كانت بني وليد منذ سقوط طرابلس يوم 21 / 8 / 2011م تعيش أياماً صعبةً و كانت العائلات النازحة إليها من طرابلس تُعد بالآف مع نقص شديد في الوقود و شحٍ في المواد الغذائية . و كان سكان المدينة يترقبون ما الذي سيحدث من تطورات في الأيام القادمة إلى أن أعلن المتمردين أنهم سيقومون بالتفاوض مع المدينة لتسليمها دون قتال .
و بعدها جرت المفاوضات و لكن لم يتوصل الطرفين لحل و أصبحت الطريق إلى حل سلمي مسدوداً و دّقت الحرب طبولها و أعلن النفير و الاستعداد للمعركة في بني وليد .
و إنه في يوم التاسع من شهر سبتمبر سنة 2011م بدأت المعركة بين أهالي بني وليد و قوات المتمردين بمساعدة الناتو و طائراته .
و بعدها جرت المفاوضات و لكن لم يتوصل الطرفين لحل و أصبحت الطريق إلى حل سلمي مسدوداً و دّقت الحرب طبولها و أعلن النفير و الاستعداد للمعركة في بني وليد .
و إنه في يوم التاسع من شهر سبتمبر سنة 2011م بدأت المعركة بين أهالي بني وليد و قوات المتمردين بمساعدة الناتو و طائراته .
و بدأت هذه المعركة من الساعة السابعة صباحاً و حتى التاسعة ليلاً كبّد أهالي بني وليد العدو خسائر فادحة في العتاد و الأرواح بالرغم من مساعدة الناتو بطائراته لقوات المتمردين بقصف مواقع مجاهدي بني وليد جواً لكي يتمكن العدو من الدخول إلى المدينة و لكن بفضل الله أولاً و فضل سواعد مجاهدينا الأبطال لم يتمكنوا في ذلك اليوم من دخول المدينة و واجهوا مقاومة شرسة جداً لأن الله سبحانه و تعالى ثبّت عزم المجاهدين و ثبّت أقدامهم .
و لقد سطّر أبناء بني وليد في هذه المعركة تاريخاً على خُطى أجدادهم من قبلهم الذين خاضوا معركةً تاريخيةً في نفس هذا الوادي قبل قرابة 90 عاماً ضد الغزاة الإيطاليين آنذاك .
